Towns End Bindery

A collection of hand bound books created by ML Townsend of Towns End Bindery (@towns_end_bindery on Instagram). I also reblog books I think are pretty.

Here’s a video that hopefully depicts what I intended to be the overall experience of holding and opening this book. Here are some stills.

The dust cover depicts the Ubik and the advertisement on the back in relatively normal fashion, only to be revealed as distorted and regressed once the dust cover is removed. All the ads for each chapter in the book are similarly designed, with a normal looking ad on one side of the page, and then a terrifyingly distorted reflection of it on the other side of the page.

Special shout out to Kassandra of Bear Club Books (@bearclubbooks) for their fantastic 2025 Binderary Webinar on Typesetting. I learned a lot and tried my best to apply some of the new knowledge in this particular bind.

Examples of ads that I put in the book shown below:

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

A rebind of one of my favorite books. I’m so pleased with this design, and how crisp it turned out. It’s still pretty imperfect, so I’ll probably do another copy and see if I can tweak some things.

Just to be clear, there is no HTV on this book. The whole thing (the blue and the yellow) was printed on plain white inkjet canvas.

My main project for Binderary in February was binding two copies of But Broken Lights by @rosa-acicularis! It was a lot of fun to revisit one of my old Doctor Who favourites, and I got to try a bunch of new things with this bind - mainly the inset in the cover, and using paper vellum as an overlay for the title page. I love both so much, it's so simple to do but so ✨fancy✨.

Binding my own fic this time! Doing the first 300 is pages (also going to do some edits to the first five chapters because I wrote them over a year ago and there are a lot of mistakes and problems!)

Selected Hannibal episodes bound for my friend Leons birthday! The design was a request from him as well

The Art of War: Technoblade Edition

Being a longtime Techno fan(since like early 2019? Hypixel Skyblock my beloathed), of course I had to make a copy of The Art of War. Also, it was a good excuse to finally read it, but just a regular copy wasn't enough. Of course not. The Art of War, by Sun Tzu: The Technoblade Edition! (Shoutout to MIT for having the translation for free online. And Lionel Giles I guess for actually translating it all those years ago).

This copy marks every single instance he quotes The Art of War in The Potato War series, plus a couple other few choice quotes at the start of some chapters(with a couple other easter eggs!) I then designed the cover to look like an enchanted book, because my little headcannon is that it's his copy he carries around in game. It is specifically an enchanted book because normal books don't have the belt (boring).

The ender chest was a gift from a dear friend of mine many years ago. I got so excited about finishing this bind that I instantly ran off to do a photo shoot with it :)

Progress pics and rambling, a per usual:

here are a few things that could help if you’re looking to get into comics because it’s very confusing at first (and every moment after)

good luck!

πŸ“£ Book AuctionπŸ“£

I’m contributing these three books πŸ“š to the Press The Patriarchy auction taking place April 25-27.

✨ The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

✨ Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

✨ The Man in the High Castle by PKD

The auction will support The Trevor Project, ACLU, & Planned Parenthood. Visit their 32Auctions site for more info.

This is a series of Mock covers designed for the amazing works of Cywcross on A03. They have various completed and uncompleted one-shots and short stories exploring for the most part Stiles Stilinski often as steter explorations. I have included within these mostly the completed ones and then seperate their steter aus together.

On the front of each cover I have included the title of each one-shot or ficlet, author name, grimoire number (1,2,3,4) aswell as various tags found in the fics in random locations with various parts underlined. This was done as some automatically underlined and I liked how it looks, it is however completely random and I originally only planned on making writer name stand out. The quotes on the back were chosen from one of the stories selected.

Colours were chosen to go from black to white in a sort of ombre effect with the red one being it's own seperate fanfic that I wanted to keep with the style but show it was not the exact same. I will do a seperate post for that one due to image limit.

These were created on Canva in about 2-2 1/2 hours as I kept going from A03 to Canva and back again.

Keep fanfiction free.

Personal use only.

I am posting to my other socials incase the images do not show here:

My first book is finished!

This is a square back Bradel binding with quarter bookcloth. Cover illustrated by me.

A collection of shippy fanfic for a friend of mine :)
